Private Student Loans are made available to college students who do not qualify for Federal Loans. The interest rates are often much higher, and repayment options are limited. We propose that either more regulation is put in place, to limit these predatory lending practices, or that they are eliminated, and students are given the option of federal loans, regardless of their family background, so they are not punished for incomes that they do not earn. We also ask that either consolidation, or federalization of current private loans be considered to give struggling citizens more options for the repayment of their debt.
