In a time where many Americans work extremely long hours and feel voiceless, when we have voter suppression and voter ID laws hindering the ability some to properly stand up and be heard; I think it behooves us to do everything in our power to allow for ALL Americans to get out to vote. With this single day, we will not only garner a larger sampling of the desires of the American electorate, but allow many more Americans to feel more engaged in our democratic system.
Many other industrialized nations implement a national voting day for large scale elections and their voter turn out dwarfs even our largest percentages to date.
So therefore I propose a single new Federal Holiday, once ever 4 years, to be held on election day be created in celebration of our democracy and it's people.
