New, reputable and serious allegations have arisen that Trump staffers may have been in contact with Russian officials during the 2016 campaign in order to influence the outcome, in addition to a reputable charge that Mr. Trump may have been blackmailed by Russia for reasons yet unknown. Congress must immediately put on hold the inaguration of the President-elect until investigations are fully completed, in order to avoid installing a President beholden to a foreign power.
If investigations determine there was no such influence, the inauguration may be rescheduled. If there is found to be intentional collaboration between Mr. Trump and Russia, he would would be guilty of treason and not be eligible for the office of President.
