On October 25, 2011, the City of Oakland, CA, the Oakland Police Department and police from surrounding cities brutally attacked the Occupy Oakland encampment at Frank Ogawa Plaza in the middle of the night. Tear gas, flash bang grenades and rubber bullets were used on sleeping people and children without provocation.
In response to this, thousands of people marched on Oakland city hall on the evening of October 25, in a peaceful rally. At the Oakland Police station, again without provocation, the crowd (including children, elderly, and disabled people) was fired on without warning by tear gas, rubber bullets and flash bang grenades.
We demand the US Government hold Oakland city officials accountable for the brutality of this quasi-military action on peaceful American citizens.
