Secretary Lew, Deputy Secretary Sarah Bloom Raskin, Treasurer Rosie Rios, we petitioners ask you to put the likeness of Harriet Beecher Stowe on the $10 or $20 Federal Reserve Note.

The noted economist John Maynard Keynes once wrote, “The ideas of economists and political philosophers, both when they are right and when they are wrong are more powerful than is commonly understood. Indeed, the world is ruled by little else.”

Harriet Beecher Stowe proved this point with her groundbreaking novel that changed the hearts and minds of millions of her follow citizens on slavery. She fought for her follow citizens to see one another as human beings, worthy of dignity, regardless of race or gender. No other American writer has expanded democracy as much as Harriet Beecher Stowe.
