Put a limit on the amount that can be awarded as Alimony, either monetarily or over a period of time.

Created by E.F. on February 19, 2013

Spouses awarded alimony should have limits placed on that alimony. It should not be awarded for life. There are lots of people that are taking advantage of this law by electing not to remarry, in a sense to punish the ex-spouse. Alimony should have a monetary limit or a length of time limit. One should not be expected to pay an amount of alimony indefinitely. I would say that limits would give the ex-spouse an incentifve to get their lives in order. They should not be able to sit around and do nothing on the other ex-spouses dime. How about 5 years, or 10 years, or $50,000, something other than the current laws.
