I petition new consumer protection legislation that caps debt collectors at a certain percentage of the original debt. There must be a cap on small debt. In no way can a $200 doctor's bill be sold and sold again and balloon to $200,000 due to interest.
Consumer debt that is sold can never result in a lien against real property. (A $200 doctor's bill can not cause you to lose your house.)
Debt related to real property, new roof, new A/C, new windows, must remain with the original company or their attorney in order for the legal reach against real property to remain intact. If that debt is sold, then that debt can no longer result in a judgement or lien against real property. That debt must become consumer debt that no longer has the ability to be applied to real property.
