Put a long-term, self sustaining colony on Mars by the end of the decade with the goal being to terraform the planet.

Created by D.V. on November 14, 2012

If our species is to survive in the coming millennia, we must expand our horizons beyond our planet. Hundreds of years ago, when the old world was growing crowded, Europe looked towards new frontiers in the Americas for a new place to live. Now, with the advancements in technology we enjoy, nothing can stop humanity from achieving new heights by terraforming (a process of turning a planet's conditions into Earth-like conditions) our most habitable neighboring planet (Mars) into the new frontier of humanity. In this dawn of the digital age, we are afforded the ability to achieve great things, and making humanity a two-planet species is well within our grasp. The sooner we start this endeavor the sooner future generations of humans can enjoy the fruits of an Earth-like Mars.
