The recent Human Right's Watch's report on the situation in Iraq came out on Jan. 25th. There are several alarming developments regarding this country, such as increasing detentions and killings among peaceful protesters, prisoner abuse, increasing executions of detainees, and a tightening grip on the media in the country. Al Qaeda in Iraq is just as strong as it was in 2006 and 2007. Iraq is classified as one of the most corrupt countries in the world. The country is heading into election in April and all indications point towards PM Al-Maliki to run the country for a 3rd round. We do realize that the United States should not be the policeman of the world but as a country that is supplying Iraq with weapons and support, we should at least try to find out what is happening.
