Begin the rapid phasing out of all coal and oil based fuels and push for a national (and even global) switch to alternative energy sources. It's true that our economy is centered around oil right now, but we are destroying our planet and as hard as change can be, we need to immediately start moving in a less harmful direction. Both as a nation and a species we are incredibly adaptive, we can make this change and if we are going to have any meaningful future, we need to start working on it now.
