Put a permanent end to using gas chambers in animal shelters as a form of euthanizing dogs and cats in all states.

Created by M.D. on January 02, 2013

I am against the use of gas chambers to euthanize animals. More than half the states in the United States still use gas chambers as a form of euthanizing dogs and cats in animal shelters. Lethal carbon monoxide is pumped into the overcrowded chamber until all animals suffocate and perish. Gassing sessions can last up to 40 minutes. It is not only a gruesome and inhumane form of death, but it is also more expensive than lethal injections. Furthermore, implementing laws for the neutering/spaying of dogs and cats would alleviate the problem of the overpopulation of domesticated animals, thus eliminating the need for euthanasia in the first place. Until that problem is solved, gas chambers in pet shelters across the United States must be eradicated. This form of death is tortuous and heinous.
