The child support system and its laws need to be revamped so that the non-custodial parent (NCP) will and can have a fair ruling in court proceedings when it comes to the amount of child support being ordered. Being that child support is paid from the taxable income of the NCP to the custodial parent (CP), who is not required to claim it (tax free income) on a return , there should at be a law set in place that would allow for the payer (normally the NCP) to be allowed to claim the child support paid during the year (with documentation of course) as a deduction on their tax return, especially if they do not have the ability to claim their child(ren) as dependents. If this can be achieved, it'll be one step closer to correcting a flawed and biased system decades after its introduction.
