Gun ownership brings with it many costs as a result of injuries and deaths caused by misuse of guns.
This includes increased life insurance, medical, hospital and pharmaceutical insurance premiums, policing costs, airport security costs and many other consequential costs. Families impacted by gun death and injury suffer loss of income and long term damage. Businesses in which gun sprees occur suffer costs related to loss of use of their facilities.
I propose that gun owners should be responsible for paying these costs, in proportion to the damage and risk which their ownership implies.
This to be done by license fees for guns and ammunition.
Higher powered guns and ammo to attract higher fees.
Curated, secured locations to attract lower fees for ammo and guns due to reduced risks.
