It is in the best interest of all parties to have access to information that is reliable and accurate when they must make a decision. If somebody says something that is factually wrong, mis-states something, or tells a lie, it is in everyone's best interest to be aware of this, especially in regards to major policy decisions. If we are to be a truly free, just and rational society, we must base our decisions on reason and in the clear light of day, and not on hearsay or lies spread for a political advantage.
