put restrictions on the military equipment given to police forces through the 1033 program.

Created by M.O. on November 16, 2014

Currently, police agencies are allowed to receive a multitude of military equipment through the 1033 program. This program has little restrictions which has led to 12,000 bayonets as well as twenty ton mine resistant vehicles being distributed. This equipment does come with instructions on what the equipment should be used for but no program is in place to make sure they are being used for the right reasons. By having restrictions on what the 1033 program can give out to police agencies this will help curve the problem of police militarization.
