Obesity is a major national problem here in the United States. Two out of three Americans are considered overweight or obese.

In 2012 there were 48 million people on the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). The average person received 134 dollars per month. 75 billion dollars were spent on this program. And 1 out of 7 people were beneficiaries.

Junk foods such as soda and snack foods should be eliminated for purchase through this program. The money saved should be spent on dietary education programs.

A vast percentage of food stamp money goes into the pockets of soda companies and snack food companies.

At least 9 states have proposed bills to make health oriented improvements to this food stamp program but have failed due to the interests of players in the food industry.
