Put a sales tax on instant data transactions

If companies didn't think that buying a data point at the moment of its creation to influence their machine learning algorithm immediately so that they could put up adds immediately in the right place that the highest likelihood of an ad being effective, they wouldn't do it. It saves money for these companies regardless of the expenses. Data acquisition and sale through the use of social media, search engines, banking, location apps and other websites is a lucrative industry and a tax on it would increase revenue. The ability to acquire data that efficiently allows a company to reduce expenses creates a less free market and exacerbates the barriers to entry for new companies inherent to economies of scale. Data acquisition should give back to the people because they are the source of it.
