Prior to 1964, silver has been used in American coins to help give them value. After 1964, silver was no longer put into coins. I think thats wrong, a bimetallic currency system is far more stable than a fiat currency based on debt and human emotion. I would like to see silver currency return to the American economy to help stabilize our currency and make its growing periods and contractions less dramatic and more stable. I'd rather a period of small growth increases over a long period than a large short term economic burst that busts in a couple of years.
In Delhi India housewives buy gold jewelery to act as a poor woman's savings account. Increasing releases of silver, even if its only a fraction of each year's coins can do the same thing and stabilize our dollar!
