This purpose of this petition is to bring awareness to, and hopefully an end to, the issue of routine infant circumcision in the United States. Not only is it unnecessary removal of up to 25% (or more) of an infant's penis without due cause, it can and does lead to both medical problems later in life as well as puts the infant's life in jeopardy at the time of the surgery. Without CLEAR medical necessity for circumcision, this practice needs to be stopped as a routine surgery.
