The Oklahoma state house and Gov. Mary Fallin (R) have passed S.B. 1456 which enacts a fee upon Oklahoma residents who produce their own energy through solar panels or small wind turbines on their own properties.
Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co. and Public Service of Oklahoma have claimed that they need to recover some of the costs lost due to solar and wind use. Distributed Energy already provides clear value to utility companies. Solar generates electricity during peak hours, when a utility has to provide electricity to more people, and feeds it back to the grid helping to alleviate pressure during peak hours.
We will not sit by and let the monopolistic companies become more of a monopoly, all while being charged for Sunlight!
