Telemarketers only use the government's Do Not Call Registry to add numbers to their call lists. American phone owners have no protection against these nuisance callers who often make the owner pay for receiving an unsolicited call. When telemarketers are asked to remove the number from their list, they simply hang up and make another call to the next victim.
It is high time laws were implemented to end this ridiculous and costly practice. As many cities have laws to prohibit door-to-door salesmen, a similar law should be put into effect for these phone-to-phone scofflaws and it should have real consequences for those who violate that law.
