Put the United States Postal Service back on a realistic operating budget.

Created by N.H. on November 13, 2011

Cutting delivery days and moving mailboxes from doorsteps to clusters on street corners isn't the answer to balancing the Postal Service's budget. Poor service, high rates, and irrelevant spending are the problem. Increasing commercial bulk mail rates, which primarily benefit BUSINESS, and reducing first class postage rates, which would primarily benefit INDIVIDUALS, would improve revenues by wooing back the use of snail mail. Aligning indoor postal workers' pay with private sector pay for similar work would create a huge reduction in operating costs. Terminating television advertisement and sponsorship of sporting events also would take a chunk out of operating expenses. These changes would go a long way toward increasing USPS' competitiveness and balancing its budget. GET REAL!
