put the U.S. on the path to formally adopt the Metric System

The United States is the only developed country that has not formally adopted the Metric System. Making the shift from imperial units to the Metric System will not only simplify daily tasks for the citizens, but also make communication between countries much easier.
Conversions can be done quickly by knowing the easy-to-learn prefixes, which hold the same meaning throughout the system. The metric system is easy to use because it’s based off the number ten, making converting units as simple as moving a decimal, rather than using seemingly arbitrary calculations.
Communication between countries will be easy because the Metric System is the same worldwide. Using the same system as everyone else, the U.S. would be able to quickly relay information without worrying about miscalculations
