There are fewer than 100 pygmy sloths in the wild. Part of why they are critically endangered is because of the exotic pet trade. People take them from their homes and ship them to the U.S as pets. This is not a good idea because people do not know how to take care of them. Scientists assume they eat mangrove leaves, but they don't really know. How would you like to be shipped thousands of miles to people that can't care for you? Soon they may die out. If we make it illegal to have them as pets, we will be a leap further in conserving them.
