We do not need to abandon the regions in Africa where Ebola is rampant, but we also need to be smart about helping to protect the people here in our country. When someone who has been working directly or in very close proximity with individuals who have contracted Ebola (medical personnel, a member of the media, missionary, etc.), they should be quarantined for 21 days to help prevent the spread of the disease to individuals here.
Had this been the case, the medical working in New York who contracted the disease, would not have potentially exposed anyone. While I understand exposure is highly unlikely, we will now use time, energy, and resources trying to identify the people he came in contact with. This is a simple solution to help assuage concerns of further cases here in the US.
