The college admissions process should be used to determine the best prospective students for an institution. Everything that student has accomplished in his/her school experience should be noted on an application to show who is truly the best students to attend a university, as well as extracurricular activities, volunting, etc. However, something that people cannot control should not be used in shaping a student's future. A student's race, sex, ethnicity, sexuality, etc may give a student a disadvantage in the college admissions process at birth. This issue has been challenged since the University of California v. Bakke case in 1978 up until Fisher v. Texas in 2012 and more recent cases. If we are ever going to heal the racial divide in America affirmative action must be abolished.
