Increasing federal entitlements will continue to consume larger portions of the federal budget. Due to longer life expectancies, currently 78.7 years for an American, the entitlements age must be raised. In an effort to modernize policy, entitlements age must increase by 1 year every 5 years for the next 30 years. This would increase the benefit age as follows: 2014 age 66, 2019 age 67, 2024 age 68, 2029 age 69, 2034 age 70, 2039 age 71 and finally 2044 age 72.
The increase in age is focused on a realistic transformation that is 40 years overdue. By understanding that our demographics have changed, the American entitlements can provide support to future generations with a realistic reform.
