Raise the age at which teenagers may legally drive to 18. Thus increasing safety for themselves and others on the road.

Created by S.H. on November 14, 2012

It has been proven through scientific studies that the part of the human brain that restrains risky behavior, including reckless driving, and thinking skills is not fully developed until around age 25. The younger the person driving, the more they are at danger of unsafe driving. With this in mind, I petition the government to raise the legal driving age from 16 to 18. While the brain is still not fully developed at 18, it will have had another 2 years of development that will help reduce risky and reckless driving and thus bring greater safety to both the teenagers and to other drivers on the road.
