Raise the Aggregate Federal Student Loan Limit (now $224,000) to $300,000 to allow medical students to finish schooling.

Created by J.C. on November 15, 2012

Moving this petition forward would help enact a bill to help low income/independent medical students of any federally accredited medical program the opportunity to borrow federal student loan aid beyond the current aggregate amount of $224,000. This will allow students in their 3rd/4th year & residency programs to have enough federal aid to finish their programs without relying on the Federal PLUS loan, a credit based loan which often needs a co-singer due to the already borrowed amounts. Low income/independent students may not have the ability to find co-signers for this remaining amount to finish schooling, and thus may have to stop schooling to raise money (often $10,000 or more). Please support this petition to Raise the Aggregate (total borrowing) to $300,000 for medical students.
