Raise the amount of money that disabled people can receive from SSI so that they know longer have to live in poverty

Currently, the maximum amount of money that a person can receive for SSI disability benefits is $733 a month or $8796 a year. I believe that anyone on SSI disability should be able to receive enough money that they don't have to live below the poverty level. The 2013 Federal Poverty Guidelines state that the poverty level for 1 person is $11,490. If people on disability qualify for maximum SSI benefits, they should receive a minimum of $957.50 a month or $11,490 a year or whatever amount allows them to live above the most current federal poverty level. People in Alaska & Hawaii should be able to receive enough money from SSI if they qualify for maximum benefits that they are able to live above the poverty level as well.
