Raise Awareness of Mental Illness

Created by J.B. on December 14, 2012

We don't want the mentally ill to continue to hurt others, and by no means do we support any violence that they may cause. As a society, we view the mentally ill as weird, toxic, and even abominable because we think their mental state is a choice. There is a stigma that they are hopeless cases and will only continue to hurt others in massacres. However, not only are children and adults victims of violence but so are the mentally ill of their own minds. We ask that the mentally ill be provided with greater access to medical help. We also ask that health class curricula more extensively discuss mental health so that future Americans will be able to better understand the plight of the mentally ill. Being able to identify mental illness is a helpful first step.
