Raise the CAP on earnings for Social Security and Disability recipients.

The Social Security Administration only allows senior citizens and disabled persons to earn $1070 a month in employment earnings when they receive Social Security benefits (whether retirement or disability). This brings the grand total of employment earnings per calendar year that anyone receiving these benefits can make to $12,840. That, coupled with the average, approximate annual Social Security payment of $9600 in benefits, brings the grand total of earnings to $22,440 per year, BEFORE taxes. The poverty level in 2016 for a family of 3 is $24,300. I urge Congress to raise the CAP for employment earnings to $2100 a month, allowing disabled and retired Americans to earn a decent, if almost living wage.
