US Govt. created the U Visa program to help victims of certain crime gain legal status in the US. Since its inception in 2008 the popularity of this program has been growing in exponential rate.
According to the latest statistics released by the DHS in March, 2015 there are 49598 U visa applications pending before the USCIS.Also the Vermont Service Center (VSC) takes on average 12-14 months to adjudicate a U visa petition.
As a result the backlog for U visa is increasing in an alarming rate. The applicant of U visa has already suffered substantial physical and mental abuse. This kind of backlogs and uncertainties are adding up to their agony. Therefore kindly increase the cap of U visa and cut down the processing time to below 6 months. This request is on humanitarian ground.
