Raise Congress and Presidential Salaries

Created by J.V. on November 06, 2013

As many have noted recently, corruption has become a massive problem in the Federal Government. Many congressmen rely on support from corporations and special interest groups in order to win elections. This has caused many policies passed by congress to unfairly benefit said groups. Bills that would otherwise benefit the economy harm it because most of the money goes to the people who are paying for the politician's campaigns.

To fix this problem, we should aim to give politicians a salary which covers the cost of campaigns. This means most politicians will not need to resort to bribes from special interest groups.

Proper pay for representatives would be around $2.5 million a year. For Senate members, $5 million a year.
