Educating our children, our future should be taken very seriously, I am not requesting more funding to schools, nor am I requesting new program for above average students, but what we really need is a drastic raise in our standards.
For example, I can tell from personal experience that an average Chinese student are required to memorize the times table by second grade/third grade, while a student of United States , the times table is taught in fourth and fifth grade, and may not even be required to memorize until middle school.
The fact that our high schoolers are getting "A" on their tests does not mean anything if the test was on ABC's. We need to realize that fourth graders are capable of more than "Adding and Subtracting with Hundreds" and raise the standards more than a "Little bit"
