The current excise tax on ammunition is 11%. The current US average state excise tax (SET) on cigarettes is 39.9%. Whether immediate or gradual, the costs associated with using these products (intended or not) are lethal, to both direct users, and unfortunate bystanders. Why don't the SET's reflect that?
Sign this petition to raise the SET's on ammunition to:
1) Make the price of ammunition reflect a truer cost, economic and social, of firearms.
2) Raise state revenues which could help offset shortcomings in other areas.
