The current minimum wage of $7.25 is outdated. Set in 2009, the minimum wage does not provide an adequate income for many who cannot obtain a higher paying job. This income does not even allow an individual to purchase healthcare without sacrificing either rent or food on the table. As Mr. Obama said in 2008, he would support an increase to $9.50, however very little has been done on the matter. It is now 4 years later and the American people can not wait any longer. Please sign this petition if you believe that the greatest country in the world can do better in protecting its citizens from poverty.
