The federal minimum wage should be raised to $8 per hour from the $7.25 it is now. This would put more pressure on businesses around the country to hire more entry level workers and allow them to move up from there. Currently states that are well above the current federal standard have higher unemployment rates due to businesses not wanting to hire entry level. The rise in the federal standard would take some of the burden off of the business owners as they are no longer part of a state that is well above the federal standard, This would be a large boost to the economy as well. More people working turns into more consumers pumping money back into our economy.
