14.8% of people in the United States live in poverty which means about 46.7 million people are living at the poverty line. If we raise minimum wage, families will be less dependent on the government and more independent. We should decrease poverty rates for all races especially Native American. We will be helping so many people even if we raise the minimum wage by $2.80 and more people will be more on board if we slowly raise the federal minimum wage until we reach $15.00. Raising minimum wage may cause the cost of everything else to go up but we need to think about the people that are trying to support themselves and or their family with $15,000 a year.
