We believe the Obama Administration should raise the legal adult age from eighteen to twenty five years old. Doing so will allow for teenagers, the future of America, to fully mature psychologically before having to make any extreme life decisions, such as choosing a college major, getting married, or finding a new residence. Psychologists have discovered that the human brain does not stop developing until about the age of twenty five. Any time before that, the brain is not fully matured and does not work at its full potential, especially in the Prefrontal Cortex (the decision making area of the brain). Having a fully functioning Prefrontal Cortex would allow for the transition between teenager and adult to be smoother, and more mindfully-equipped adults will be stepping into the world.
