The Fair Labor Standards Act set a standard of paying laborers and created the 40-hour workweek, the minimum wage, and set mandatory overtime. The mandatory overtime threshold currently is $23,660, and the rate has not changed since 1975. However, CEO compensation increased 937% and typical worker's compensation increased 10.2% 1978 to 2013. CEO-to-worker compensation ration was 20:1 in 1965 and grew to 295.9:1 in 2013. We are asking for a "restoration, not a revolution" as the President has the authority to make the change and does not need Congress to pass a bill to increase the threshold adjusting for inflation. Please sign this petition and let's ask the President to take care of the workers he promised to protect.
