Background. Whereas minimum wages across the nation are being raised to fifteen dollars an hour, the average hourly income of a paramedic and/or fire fighter is 14.91 USD. These two career's mandate more than two years of higher level school (college) with Board administers exams.
Action. (1) Whereas Paramedics and Fire Fighters are highly trained individuals and the public must have these professions in service. (2) Whereas majority of these personnel are forced to work two or more jobs in order to support their families, working 70+ hours a week. (3) Whereas, we call for legislation to mandate a minimum wage set for Paramedics and Fire Fighters, not less than that of those who's education and level of responsibility compare. (4) Whereas this amount should not be less than 25.00 USD/hour
