Raise the minimum wage to $10.10 for all employees but provide businesses assistance if they would have to lay off

We see about how raising the minimum wage to $10.10 will help people working pay check to pay check and that looks good on paper, but in reality it would most likely cause businesses to lay off some workers to make up for the money they would lose in higher wages. I am proposing that the government does rage the minimum wage but also provide assistance to businesses who would have to lay off workers. Those workers who make that extra $2.85 will have more money but there is going to have to be a worker who's wages go to zero dollars. This could drive up unemployment if we do not handle this wage increase carefully and that is why I've decided to petition this.
