Raise the minimum wage to $13 per hour indexed to inflation

Created by M.M. on February 02, 2014

The current minimum wage is not sufficient for American individuals and families suffering in poverty. By increasing the minimum wage and tying its annual increase to the Consumer Price Index, all Americans will benefit from the increase in overall consumer spending and decrease in dependency on government welfare spending. The most common argument against raising the minimum wage is that it will force companies to cut jobs to compensate for the increase in wages. In theory, this makes sense, but it has been proven completely false by many economists. Additionally, major U.S. corporations such as Costco and Hobby Lobby have raised their minimum wages, only to see great increases in productivity and profit. Sign and help protect hard-working Americans from companies who accept poverty.
