Raising the minimum wage would increase incomes for working class americans without needing any additional government spending or new tax breaks. This extra income would provide relief to families still recovering from the recession, and the cost to businesses would be offset by more customers having money to pay for their goods and services. The president has talked before about addressing income inequality, and I think this is the best place to start.
