While the government is rightly fighting to have states and businesses voluntarily raise the minimum wage as it fails to support working people, governmental departments continue to pay minimum wage. I am a veteran with four small children and an out of work spouse. I am attending school in order to position myself to well support my children. I have secured a work study job with the VA for the summer. The job pays $7.25/hour! I am quite sure that I speak for other struggling people, in asking for support on this issue.
Shouldn't the government lead from the front on this issue? Isn't it hypocritical to fight for a higher minimum wage and continue to pay the paltry current one?
Please raise the minimum wage throughout the government.
