The minimum wage in this country is not sufficient for a person to survive on. One cannot pay rent, a car note and afford health care, afford the current high food prices on a minimum wage salary of 7.25/hr. The current minimum wage in this country is well below and has not kept up with the average salary in the US. Therefore, it is felt that the minimum wage needs to be raised to at least $10-12/hr. Not only will help poor families, but it would also help the economy by people being able to spend more on their needs.
