It is impossible for anyone to live on minimum wage without government support. Anyone who works 40 hours a week should have the ability to support themselves with their own paycheck. Raising the minimum wage to a living wage will give more people a better quality of life along with reducing the peoples' dependence on government support and lowering crime. Raising the minimum wage significantly will also by default broaden the tax base increasing revenue and eliminating the need for much government programs, reducing the budget. More people with disposable income means more spending which means more job creation.
