Raise Minimum Wage to A National Average Living Wage

Created by V.A. on September 27, 2015

I believe the Obama Administration should work to raise Minimum Wage to a National Average Minimum Wage. 22.4 % of Americans are living in poverty, almost a fourth of the American population.
Many of the Americans living at or under poverty level work multiple, minimum wage jobs. Currently, federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. To provide just barely enough to make it by, a single mom in Kansas would have to work the full 40 hours a week to make $15,080 a year. If the same mom could work a 35 hour work week, to be able to spend more time with her kids, for $25.25 an hour, she could comfortably provide $45,955 to her two children, who would not be needing child care, because their mother can now be around more to take care of and spend time with her children.
