Raise the minimum wage for Tipped Employees above $2.13 per hour.

Created by A.B. on October 19, 2011

For 20 plus years, tipped employees have only been making $2.13 per hour as their minimum wage as the minimum wage for non-tipped employees continues to rise.
The administration should raise the minimum wage for tipped employees since this hourly rate does not cover even the taxes the employee has to pay and thus pays more at the end of the year creating a financial hardship and harrassment from the IRS for not paying taxes on time.
Tipped employees also have a hard time paying for their health insurance premiums since their minimum wage of $2.13 per hour also barely covers the cost of their insurance premiums.
It is time to end the financial hardship of tipped employees (ie Servers, Waiters, Bartenders, etc.) by raising the minimum wage for them now.
